Diaghilev

            —Naples

All great people have banished selves.

Here along the docks

I am looking for someone

to say this to,

in this chain of flesh

I am looking for you.

One minute chases another

and they never make two.

From my window I see the sea,

a man who’s been with me,

the dawn’s kindling,

gathering forces,

this sky,

that particular failure.

They will know my name,

I decided early on.

But time passes.

Anything can happen.

I only wanted to say to you:

Here is my heart,

put it in a safe place.
